Tips and Troubleshooting

You'll find tips and troubleshooting signs throughout this Tutorial accompanied by a light bulb icon or an exclamation mark. We placed them in the section where they had the most relevance. These tips and warnings are selected to set you on the right path to begin with and because they relate to common activities.

Entering Data: (Works only with fields where you type in data)

Copy
Paste

Removes your last entry
Puts back your last entry
Removes what you selected so you can paste elsewhere
Creates a copy of what you have selected so you can paste it elsewhere
Places copy selected into the location you identify

Troubleshooting

• Avoid losing data.
  • Don't spin the scroll wheel in the centre of the mouse while on a form. That action
    can change data in the vicinity of your cursor.
  • Remember that radio buttons have an "either/or" setting. You can only select
    one of the elements at a time.
  • Complete your task before leaving SPAR unattended in case you lose your
    connection.
• Don't get lost or confused.
  • Use only SPAR's navigation to move around. Avoid using the browser back
    arrow button or forward arrow button.
  • Don't be tempted to use your Enter key instead of Tab. It can launch
    submitting the form!

Access & Security

Once you have a user id and password, you can logon to SPAR. You can access SPAR by entering http://apps.for.gov.bc.ca/spar in your web browser.

If you are a Non-Ministry SPAR User, you will need to complete these steps in order to access SPAR:

• To access SPAR, private sector clients must have a BC Electronic ID (BCeID). For information on obtaining a BCeID go to the MoFR BCeID Information page at: http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/his/efm/BCeIDRequest.htm
• Once you have a BCeID, SPAR access can then be obtained by going to the Electronic Forest Management Application Access Form for SPAR at: http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/his/efm/access/spar.htm

If you are a Ministry SPAR User, you can obtain access to SPAR by submitting your IDIR User ID and the required security level to the SPAR Administrator at SEEDHELP.
