The Chiedza
Child Care Centre
in Harare, Zimbabwe, is home to 150 children between the ages of
6 and 13. Most of the children at the orphanage have lost their
parents to the AIDS epidemic that is devastating that country; Zimbabwe
currently has over a million AIDS orphans. The director of the centre
is Stella Mesikano.
We are trying to make
a difference to the children at the orphanage by helping to pay
for an education and a chance at a better life. All money we send
is used to pay for school fees and the supplies
and books help them with their learning. Last year we sent a monetary donation as well as children's books to the Orphanage.
How can you help?
We have a colleague who travels regularly to Zimbabwe who will deliver any money and supplies we collect directly
to Stella at the Orphanage. If you would like to help you can:
1. |
Donate
any office supplies -- the children at the orphanage could
really use pens, pencils, felts. |
2. |
Donate
any children's books -- new and used books are welcome. |
3. |
Make
a monetary donation -- cash or cheques should be made out
to Videa which is a registered non-profit
organization based in Victoria, every penny of the cash goes
directly to the Orphanage. A tax receipt can be issued for all donations over $10.00. |
If you have anything
to donate - please email Laura or Julie at information@knowledgesolutions.ca
and we will make sure that the donations are picked up, packaged
and make their way directly to the Orphanage. Thanks for helping
to make a difference!
