Review Development WorkVancouver Island Health Authority

Take a moment to reflect upon what has occurred during the development phase of the project. This will help you prepare for your project implementation. A good place to start is by taking action and contacting the people involved in the development work. Arrange to meet with them - face-to-face, by phone, video conference or electronically to talk about their work. If you do not understand some aspects of the practice change or how it was developed, now is the time to come to a clearer understanding.

If you have been asked to participate in implementing a practice change or Standard, you may want to know the answers to some of these questions:

Review Development Work Checklist

Review Development Work Checklist
Why is a change being advocated?
Is this a small change or a big change? Keep in mind that not every practice change requires a written Standard.
What occurred during the development of a change in practice or the revision/development of a Standard?
What do you need to be aware of in order to implement the practice change or Standard?

Reflections Reflections

Take a few moments to reflect on the following questions...

What have you learned?
Have you or your team had a chance to review the work that came out of the development phase? What insights or lessons have you learned and how will this affect your future work?

What critical pieces of information do you need to carry forward into the implementation process? For example, perhaps you have received information from the development team that addresses important financial or clinical questions. Take the time to identify this information - and write it down. This information will be helpful as you begin to draft an action plan.

Who can help?
Have you identified the people that were involved in the development process - what are the roles of the developers, stakeholders or potential Sponsors? Would any of these people be able to be involved with implementation?
